A Brief History of pFITE

You may have caught our pilot pFITE series which aired in Spring 2023. We were delighted with the engagement this project generated, and so this year we aim to take things up a level. By unearthing more great talent and reaching an even wider audience, we hope to spark positive discussion on something we should all be passionate about – the environment. This year, whilst using the pFITE name, Poetry and Folk In The Environment, we will be accepting entries from all genres or music.

By joining this project, you will have access to all that Home Stage has to offer, with specialists in production, promotion and business. With experienced professional musicians on the team, we understand the needs of up-and-coming artists, and how to elevate your profile.

As we start to receive more and more entries, we will be organising events around the country for our artists to appear at. At Home Stage, we are only looking to cover our costs. Any profits we receive will be shared between the performers, with the very best being invited to showcase their talents at a final performance in a national venue.

FAQs

What should my song/poem be about?

Anything at all related to the environment, climate change, and our relationships with the natural world. Entries can be of any genre (e.g. folk, jazz, rock, electronic), style (e.g. prose poetry, spoken word, rhyming poetry, absurdist poetry) and tone (e.g. happy, sad, inspiring, melancholic, nostalgic, angry, uplifting). We simply want good songs and poems that move us.

Do I have to submit a video?

Yes, please record a landscape video of you performing your song or poem. You can be as creative as you like with this!

How do I send you a video?

Record your video on a phone, laptop, camera or any recording device. Video files are usually too large to send over email so we advise sending the video file to pfite@home-stage.co.uk using WeTransfer. It is a free and easy-to-use service. Don’t forget to include information about yourself, useful links and the words/lyrics of your entry!

Is there a deadline for submissions?

All submissions need to be in by the 30th May 2024, the winner will be the video with the greatest number of likes at the end of June.

What if I don’t live in the UK?

We are encouraging international applications, so please enter no matter where you live.
